Greek Tourist Enterprises have invested heavily into promoting Costa Navarino as a world-class golfing destination in recent years, and with four spectacular golf courses now in operation it is fast becoming a golfing mecca. With four hotels on-site, and an array of residences too, Costa Navarino cater for visitors flying in from all parts of the world, with buggy fleets and rental sets being made available to cater for their needs. This, of course, requires large storage areas to complement the free flow of bag and buggy movements.
With the opening earlier this year of the new Interntaional Olympic and Hills golf courses courses —both designed by José María Olazábal — the golf operations team at Costa Navarino turned to Carousel Golfing for their bag storage needs when planning the new Hills Clubhouse which sits adjacent to both courses. With bag movements estimated to turn at over 200 per day, the installation of the Carousel system was a welcome addition, with 20 carousel units installed, each capabale of holding 12 bags.
Carousel Golfing managing director, Michael Waldron said: “The team have worked incredibly hard to install the bag storage units in Greece, which allows Costa Navarino the ability to store a maximum of 240 bags in a confined area, therefore maximising as much space as possible. The Carousel system was chosen as the most efficient bag storage system available, with the advantage of efficient use of space, coupled with a fast deposit and retrieval system allowing it to run parallel with traffic, especially at peak times of the day.”
Waldron, who personally oversaw the installation when he visisted Costa Navarino in October added: “It’s an extremely impressive golf destination, with some of the best facilities I have ever seen in my time working in the golf industry. There is no doubt in my mind that Costa Navarino is a truly world-class golf destination, and will continue to be regarded as one of the best golf resorts in Europe in the years ahead.”
