Finca Cortesin, host venue of the 2023 Solheim Cup, has confirmed the appointment of José Ignacio Olea as its new director of golf. With over two decades of invaluable experience in the golf industry, encompassing diverse operational, managerial, leadership, and sales roles, Olea joins the Finca Cortesin team from Santa Maria Golf & Country Club in Panama. His extensive career has taken him to various corners of the world, including the USA, Portugal, and Spain, contributing to his well-established connections within the industry.
As director of golf, Olea will enhance the legacy of hosting the Solheim Cup, utilising the resort’s position as one of the foremost golf destinations in the world to drive new membership and real estate opportunities. Renowned for its immaculate conditioning and undulating layout, Finca Cortesin’s magnificent Cabell Robinson-designed golf course provided the perfect setting for one of the most dramatic editions of the Solheim Cup, as Europe came from behind to retain the trophy after a thrilling 14-14 draw.
