As a top-class venue Hillside Golf Club in England is always looking for new ways to improve the experience for their members and guests. On one of his many journeys James Hogg, golf photographer and Hillside member, James Hogg came across the Digital Information Board & HCP Conversion Table. He brought this to the attention of the secretary/manager at Hillside Golf Club, Chris Williams.
“At Hillside we strive towards excellence. For us it is important to stay true to the many great traditions at the club while being a first mover in bringing the future of golf to our players,” explains Williams. “With the solution from How Many Strokes we can communicate all relevant information for players and visitors at our club in a modern way and at the same time the simple design on the screens fits in very well at our clubhouse.
“We decided to go with two 32” screens with stands, including wheels and battery, which gives us maximum flexibility, and for example, is great for showing live scores in club competitions. In general, the solution has lifted our players experience just as we expected it to.”
The company behind the software are present in major golf clubs around the world on five different continents. Getting into the UK market has taken a bit longer than expected though as Elias Knudsen, co-founder of How Many Strokes explains: “First of all, I would like to say it is a great honour to be part of the experience at a top-level golf club and Hillside Golf Club is undoubtedly that.
“We have had requests about our solution from clubs around the world, but getting into the UK market has been slower than expected. However, after announcing that Hillside Golf Club has bought into our solution, and with the rapidly developing opportunities our system offers, the number of requests from other clubs in England has increased. Hallamshire GC, Ealing GC and more have recently joined us as well, whilst a number of other golf clubs are showing a keen interest. Consequently, we expect things to develop quickly in 2024 with the UK having our full attention to support this development.
“We are very much looking forward to bringing onboard many new clubs in the UK over the next couple of months.”
